What to Bring to Your Treatment Program
Coming into treatment can bring up many emotions — relief, fear, hope, uncertainty — sometimes all at once. You don’t need to arrive perfectly prepared. Our team is here to support you, and most forgotten items can be arranged later.
This guide is meant to support, not overwhelm. Bring what feels manageable. Comfort and safety matter more than perfection.
Everyday Essentials (All Seasons)
👕 Clothing & Daily Wear
- Comfortable clothing for daily wear
- Sleepwear / pajamas
- Undergarments & socks
- Comfortable shoes (indoor & outdoor if possible)
🧴 Personal hygiene items
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Shampoo & conditioner
- Body wash / soap
- Deodorant
- Hairbrush / hair ties
💊 Medications & Health Supports
- Prescription medications (in original pharmacy packaging)
- Basic self-care items (glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, etc.)
💙 Personal Comfort Items
- One or two small personal items for emotional comfort
- Examples: a photo, journal, book, blanket, or something meaningful to you

- Warmth, comfort, and layering are key
- Winter coat
- Warm sweater or hoodie
- Long-sleeve tops
- Warm socks
- Hat, gloves, and scarf
- Boots or waterproof shoes
- Cozy indoor layers (sweatpants, fleece, etc.)

- Cool mornings, mild afternoons
- Light jacket or insulated hoodie

- Closed-toe shoes or runners
- Light scarf or toque (optional)
🌸 Spring Months (March – May)
- Changing weather — layering helps
- Light jacket or raincoat
- Layers (cardigans, long-sleeve shirts)

- Waterproof footwear (recommended)

A Gentle Reminder
To help maintain a safe, supportive, and focused healing environment for everyone, there are some items that cannot be brought into the residence. These guidelines are not about punishment they are about safety, emotional regulation, and protecting the recovery space. If you are unsure about an item, our admissions team is always happy to clarify before arrival.

- Substances & Related Items
- Drug paraphernalia of any kind
- Over-the-counter medications not approved by staff
- Herbal supplements, vitamins, or natural remedies (unless approved)
🔪 Safety & Sharp Objects
- Weapons of any kind
- matches, or flammable items
- Tools or items that could be used to cause harm
- Knives, scissors, or sharp tools (razors are allowed but will be placed in lock-up)
🔌 Electronics & Media
- Personal gaming consoles
- Smart home devices
- Excessive electronics or cords
- Unapproved recording devices (phones are permitted, and used during phone time)
💎 Valuables & Excess Items
- Large amounts of cash
- Expensive jewelry
- Valuable personal items
- Excessive belongings
🍔 Food & Beverages
- Outside food or beverages (unless medically required and approved)
- Energy drinks or high-caffeine products
- Glass containers
👚 Clothing & Personal Items
- Clothing with drug, alcohol, or explicit imagery
- Personal “toys”
- Items promoting violence or hate
- Clothing that may be triggering or unsafe in a group setting
🕯️ Miscellaneous
- Candles or incense
- Aerosols not approved by staff
- Items that disrupt sleep or group environments
- Anything that could compromise the safety, privacy, or comfort of others
💬 If Something Isn’t Permitted
If an item is not permitted, staff will work with you to store it safely or arrange alternatives. Nothing will be thrown away without discussion whenever possible.
Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.
You are not expected to arrive “put together” only willing. If something is missing, our team will help you problem-solve. This space is designed to support healing, not add pressure.
